At EcoNest Philippines, we believe every circular journey begins with a single decision to do things differently. This year, we are honored to present the first Sustainability Alliance Badge for 2026-2027 to City of Dreams Manila.

Our story began in 2019 with little more than an idea: introducing compostables in the Philippines. City of Dreams Manila's team embraced it long before sustainability became fashionable, and has worked alongside us ever since to lessen single-use plastic packaging.
The results speak for themselves. Since 2019, COD Manila has diverted more than 55,000 kilos of plastic materials from entering our waste streams. By EcoNest's estimates, that means roughly 14,500 gallons of water saved and more than 41,600 liters of petroleum conserved.*

This is part of a bigger picture. Under Melco's Above and Beyond strategy, City of Dreams Manila is working toward carbon neutrality and zero waste by 2030. Along the way, it has eliminated bottled water in gaming areas, switched to refillable amenities in its hotels, supported local farmers and coffee growers, and installed 3,120 solar panels, becoming the first integrated resort in the country to harness solar energy.

What moved us most, however, happened in September. For the first time in seven years of working together, we were invited to COD's Sustainability Week for its employees, where sustainable suppliers set up booths and presented their technologies. Imagine a company of this scale caring so deeply that its own people understand the advocacy. That is how alignment is built: from the inside out.
That is why City of Dreams Manila is the first company this year to receive the EcoNest Sustainability Alliance Badge for 2026-2027. It recognizes a partner whose values mirror our own: MAALAGA (caring), MAY LAYUNIN (purposeful), MAY PUSO (passionate), and MAPAGKAKATIWALAAN (trustworthy).

To the City of Dreams Manila team: congratulations, and thank you. Your commitment to lessening plastics speaks volumes about your leadership in the industry. You offer guests a getaway from everyday life, yet you stay true to the essence of humans caring for the environment. Real leadership looks like this.

For EcoNest, this partnership has been as much a lesson as a collaboration. We are immensely proud to work with an establishment aligned with our goal of pursuing circularity through biomaterials. Watching a leader stay the course gives us the strength to keep carrying our mission of closing the loop for our partners, however challenging it becomes.
To our clients: this is what circular progress looks like. It rarely begins with a grand announcement. It begins with one material replaced, one habit changed, and one team convinced that the effort matters. Multiplied across years, those small choices became tens of thousands of kilos of plastic kept out of the environment. Whatever the size of your business, there is a first step waiting for you.

Our yearly badge and certificate serve as a reminder for new and old businesses to strive for a greener planet by making kinder choices in operations and materials. EcoNest will keep walking beside every partner who chooses this path, helping close the loop one product at a time.

*Estimates follow EcoNest's internal guide: water = kg x 0.26 gallons; petroleum = kg x 0.75 liters. Product weight is estimated from quantities and average weights, not measured plastic waste diverted.
