Put simply, net zero means cutting greenhouse gas emissions to as close to zero as possible. To keep global warming to no more than 1.5°C – as called for in the Paris Agreement – emissions need to be reduced by 45% by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050. Transitioning to a net-zero world is one of the greatest challenges humankind has faced and calls for a complete transformation of how we produce, consume, and move about - and quitting plastic is one of the easiest places to start with.

A staggering 2.7 million tons of plastic waste are generated in the Philippines each year, and an estimated 20% ends up in the ocean. By 2050, there will be more plastic in our ocean than fish. Recycling is not a solution we or the planet can live with either. Only 4% of plastic is recycled, and most plastic can not be recycled with modern technology. It's in our waterways and forests, the food we eat, and the air we breathe.
